Hailing from the Commonwealth of Dominica, Ms. Lí-Lí Octave is a trailblazing artist whose sound—appropriately dubbed "Caribbean Neo Soul"—serves as a bridge between island heritage and urban sophistication.
Born to Dominican parents, with ancestral ties to Barbados and Montserrat, her artistry is a rich tapestry of the Caribbean diaspora. Lí-Lí Octave’s musical journey began at the age of four with a public performance of Whitney Houston’s "I Will Always Love You," signaling the arrival of a generational talent.
Today, she is recognized for a staggering four-octave vocal range that allows her to pivot from intimate, whispered storytelling to soaring, soulful belts. Her influences are as diverse as her heritage, with critics drawing comparisons to icons like Nina Simone, Erykah Badu, and Jill Scott, all while maintaining a "distinctly Caribbean flavor."
She headlined Dominica's Jazz and Creole in 2026, and previously in 2024 - little wonder because her music leans both towards Jazz and also Creole. She loves Kadans Music and several of her songs are in fact done or remixed into this music typical to Dominica.
She continues to headline Jazz 'n Dine - a signature Fringe event that takes place usually 2 weeks before Jazz and Creole in Dominica and which has been growing in international appeal. In 2025 Bryan Sax and JC Keys from Cuba by way of St Vincent featured with her and in 2026 Richy Jay, Canadian-Haitian Artist of the Year Award Winner, and Joy Stoute Dominica's former Calypso Monarch were featured in this showcase that is carried live throughout the Caribbean, the New York Tri-state Area, parts of Canada and Africa by broadcast partner, CaribVision. The highlight of Jazz 'n Dine is the high-level original music that Lí-Lí Octave writes and for the first year (2024) she wrote ten (10), second year (2025) fourteen (14), and in 2026 twenty-six (26) but only performed eighteen (18) of the brand new songs she wrote. Her showcase at Jazz 'n Dine in 2026 was two hours of original music! And, she has more in store!
In 2024, Lí-Lí Octave achieved international acclaim with the release of her debut live album, Play on Venus. Recorded during her Jazz 'n Dine 2024 performance, the album explores the "female perspective" through tracks like the sultry "Lay It Down" and the empowering "Out of Place." This cemented her status as a cosmic evolution" of the genre, earning her the title of a signature fringe event artist for Dominica’s prestigious Jazz and Creole festival season.
Lí-Lí Octave’s impact extends far beyond the stage. In June 2024, she represented the Caribbean region in Geneva, Switzerland, performing the original commissioned work "I'll Stay With You" for the International Trade Center’s 60th Anniversary. Whether she is performing at the Hard Rock Cafe in Guyana, headlining festivals in Finland, or supporting local initiatives like the Roseau Cathedral renovation or organizations like The House of Hope and The Dominica Cancer Society, Lí-Lí Octave remains a fierce advocate for authenticity in music.
