Born to Dominican parents with ancestral ties to Barbados and Montserrat, her artistry is a rich tapestry of the Caribbean diaspora.Lí-Lí Octave’s musical journey began at the age of four with a public performance of Whitney Houston’s "I Will Always Love You," signaling the arrival of a generational talent.
Today, she is recognized for a staggering four-octave vocal range that allows her to pivot from intimate, whispered storytelling to soaring, soulful belts. Her influences are as diverse as her heritage, with critics drawing comparisons to icons like Nina Simone, Erykah Badu, and Jill Scott, all while maintaining a "distinctly Dominican flavor."
In 2024, Lí-Lí achieved international acclaim with the release of her debut live album, Play on Venus. Recorded during her Jazz 'n Dine 2024 performance, the album explores the "female perspective" through tracks like the sultry "Lay It Down" and the empowering "Out of Place." This cemented her status as a "cosmic evolution" of the genre, earning her the title of a signature fringe event artist for Dominica’s prestigious Jazz and Creole festival season.
Lí-Lí Octave’s impact extends far beyond the stage. In June 2024, she represented the Caribbean region in Geneva, Switzerland, performing the original commissioned work "I'll Stay With You" for the International Trade Center’s 60th Anniversary. Whether she is performing at the Hard Rock Cafe in Guyana, headlining festivals in Finland, or supporting local philanthropy like the Roseau Cathedral renovation or the House of Hope, Lí-Lí Octave remains a fierce advocate for authenticity in music.

It was a humbling experience to perform ‘Angel Cry’, an original song I wrote with Mr Lindsay George, as a tribute to your memory; sung with your wife, Anita, children Sade and Brent, in the audience, emotional, as some of your timeless art pieces rolled by on the screen.
